Q: Which QUIKRETE product is the best to use for a surface repair to a concrete driveway?

A: The recommended repair product depends on the overall condition of the driveway. For the purposes of this response, we'll focus on non-structural driveway repairs. The following outlines a few general repair recommendations:

Resurfacing
ResourcesQUIKRETE Concrete Resurfacer offers an economical alternative to replacing old, spalled concrete with a renewed finish. Following a thorough pressure washing, the application is as simple as mix, pour and squeegee. The resurfacer results in a durable, wear-resistant surface that can be driven on after 24 hours.

One 40-pound bag resurfaces approximately 90 square feet at 1/16-inch thickness. The material cost for resurfacing is about $.25 per square foot. In comparison, it would cost $3.50 to 5.50 per square foot to have the concrete slab torn-out and replaced.

Quick Patching

QUIKRETE Vinyl Concrete Patcher is designed to make thin repairs to spalled or pitted concrete driveways, floors, sidewalks, steps or any other horizontal concrete surface. The versatile, vinyl-infused compound bonds to the concrete surface for a smooth repair. It can be used for up to 2 square feet per patch. Deeper patches should be applied in 1/4-inch lifts. The patcher has a high resistance to ultraviolet light and heat, and no additional additives are needed. QUIKRETE Vinyl Concrete Patcher should be allowed to cure overnight before traffic.

Fix Small Cracks

ResourcesFor minor concrete repairs, such as driveway cracks less than 1/2-inch wide, QUIKRETE Gray Concrete Crack Seal offers a simple solution - simply shake the ready-to-use product and pour directly from its bottle. Once applied, the material blends with the natural color of concrete for a uniform finish, becomes dry to the touch in 30 minutes and maintains adhesion throughout freeze/thaw temperature cycles.
